CGI video for Love Republic


Love republic x Sxema​​​​​​​

A client reached out to us with a request to create a CGI video featuring a digital advent calendar hiding items and accessories from the new winter collection of Love Republic. Why an advent calendar? It's an excellent method to engage the audience on social media, retaining their attention through elements of surprise and mystery, revealing what hides behind each of the advent calendar's compartments. A digital version of this mechanic is a good approach to enhancing loyalty and attract new attention.

​​​​​​​The project took 2 weeks to complete. During this time, we went through all stages of our pipeline: concept development, modeling of clothing and accessories, creation of 3D video, musical production, and implemented all the client's ideas into a CGI video. The video was well-received by the brand's audience, gathering over 175,000 views on social media.



**Concept**

The general idea of the video was as follows: An ornament in the shape of a mirrored heart transforms into an advent calendar, containing items from the new collection and Christmas attributes (gift boxes, decorations). One of the compartments holds an ornament in the shape of a mirrored heart. Flying into it, we find ourselves back where the video began. The video then loops.




The concept consisted of three main scenes:
 
1st Scene: We see a mirrored pink heart. The background can include Christmas attributes, polygonal mirrored silver and glass trees, ornaments.
The ribbon material - silver or holographic foil, possible scene attributes, color scheme.​​​​​​​




2nd Scene: The camera smoothly zooms in. The heart-shaped ornament unfolds, revealing compartments like in a real advent calendar. Upon opening, confetti starts falling, the lighting and mood of the scene change, and the party begins.




3rd Scene: Some compartments are closed, each displaying numbers. There are also open ones resembling glowing storefront windows, containing items from the new LR collection and other festive and Christmas attributes: gifts, heart-shaped ornaments into which the camera will fly later, creating the effect of a looping video.




This was the overall storyboard of the project during the brainstorming stage.
 
In the final video, we didn't use the heart-shaped ornament, but retained most elements: confetti, festive ribbon, smooth camera movements in silver color. The party mood, initially planned for the video, was changed to a more festive and Christmas one.

 

**3D Work**
 
For the video, we created digital photorealistic replicas of real items from the brand's new collection, which we placed in the advent calendar. Simultaneously, work was done on creating the location, effects of item appearances, particle simulation, and other details.




**Sound Design**
 
When working on the sound design, our main goal was to immerse all viewers in magic and evoke emotions that would transport them into the atmosphere of celebration, mystery, and winter mood, to emphasize the appearance of items in the advent calendar.
